Are people really flipping out over bandwidth charges? How many megs do you think an average youtube or hulu video is and how much do you think those guys likely piss away in bandwidth fees?

why the fuck do you people care? They could have easily put it over 5$ if they wanted but they put it for whatever you want to pay for it. If some people only want to pay 1 cent for it let them.

Just note them down on a list so when 2dboy brings out the data from this sale they can't coplain and we can blame them

That depends on what their transaction, hosting and supports costs are per sale.

Specifying a minimum transaction tends to cause people to give exactly the minimum. In some instances, this can lead to people actually giving less than had you said nothing at all and left it up to them to choose.

Of course, since this is online, the system doesn't work quite as well as in person. For donations, you generally get more when people can see how much other people have donated.

They could have added a message to the paypal window that said "We would appreciate it if you donate at least $[0.30] to cover the PayPal fees," if they even exist. Of course, that might just instigate 4chaners to abuse it so that 2Dboy loses money.

Honestly, I'd really like to. Buy them something to eat, talk with them about how two guys with an independent game studio made the best game of 2008, it'd be really enlightening.

It's hard to tell if they'd be better or worse off doing that. Even if you got 10 times as many people to switch from $0.01 to $0.30 as switched from $5 to $0.30, it would be a bad idea.

I paid at like 3pm today and still haven't gotten any e-mail. Have other people gotten some sort of DL link yet? Or is it just taking really long?

That manual e-mail bot thing didn't work at all for me.

How the heck do you run this on 64 bit Vista? The WoG forums are down so I can't find an answer there.

Kinda confused, just made my donation and the email they sent doesn't have a link to download it..

EDIT:
Seems this isn't a common problem.
:\ will wait it out.

EDIT2:
Aww yeah!
There it is!
Guess I was a bit impatient.

If it wasn't paypal or credit card (maybe send a check or cash), I'd probably buy it for $.01-$.10, mostly because I don't have the PC capable of running it (my shit is about 5-9 years old), but hell... it's a near "free" game and I wouldn't feel bad "wasting money" on it if I never even got to play it.

All of you going "ZOMG YOU SHOULD PAY MORE THAN $.01" are missing the point. They asked what you thought the value of the game was. For most people, that's a $.01. People are cheap bastards. If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile. And you can't say you wouldn't do the same shit for something you have mild/moderate interest in if you were given it free/$.01.

Yeah, I made an initial donation around noon today and still have not gotten anything, even through that email resend form. I didn't feel like writing an email and dealing with customer support, so a couple of minutes ago I just sucked it up and donated another 50 cents (bringing the total to a whopping $1 (my second copy for a different OS on the same computer-- chillax vigilante gaf)) and I got an email from 2Dboy with the download link instantly.

The servers seem to have just gotten up and running again, so now is your chance before they get hammered again!

No, the odds of it being worth the effort of the transaction, but not being worth more than a single cent are slim. More likely, it's worth somewhere between $0.25 and $5.00 for the average person. Whether they actually pay that much when they don't have to is another story.

I'm not making any sort of judgement over what price you paid, since it would be nonsensical to pay exactly what it's worth to you. But don't pretend that you wouldn't buy it if it were $0.02, or $0.03.

Paying a penny isn't cheaping out!

Paying a single "sen" (1/100th of a Japanese yen), now that's cheaping out!

Already have the Steam version, but paying $7.50 for the Linux one felt good, man. My favorite game of last year.

Will probably pick it up on Wiiware sometime as well. I'm a valued customer

Edit: Wohoo, got the link already. Not that I can install it anyway until I fix my Archlinux installation...

I did this now, and recieved the e-mail instantly. Are you checking your spam filters?

Maybe it's just the luck of the draw as to who gets sent the links first.

Anyway, I paid £0.01, as I already paid full price on Wii Ware. Damn brilliant game.

You know if every single person in the world bought this game for £0.01 right now 2DBoy would still get something like £60million give or take wonky maths and logistics and all that guff. This is on top of already doing well with previous releases and the future iPhone version, not to mention multiple copies being bought by the same person.

I would think it's a shame that people genuinely believe such a great game is only worth that little though.
