Ironic that a computer generated person can outperform the person who is playing him then...

Then again, the Ben Affleck in the Final Fantasy Spirits Within movie did way better than the Ben Affleck in any non-Kevin Smith movie.

Michael Clark Duncan must be Vulcan Raven:

Snake would be a tough choice though... Hayter's voice is Snake's voice, I can't imagine him sounding different. Acting-wise though, I don't think he'd be cut out for it.

Why does Snake have to sound like Hayter in the movie? That'd be like Hugh Jackman having to sound like the cartoon Wolverine

I think it should be CGI. But then for some stupid reason, it would go straight to video, unless it involves cute furry animals, talking insects, or Ninja Turtles.

I just think there should be more serious CGI movies in the theatres. But I wouldn't turn away from a live action MGS movie either.

Kurt Russle would have been the perfect Snake. Oh well.

No one. It wouldn't be the same without David Hayters voice. I say it should be CG and pixar should make with and the original voice cast should be in it

How could CGi possibly serve MGS?

It would look stupid. Live action works just fine, they just have to adapt, because it's an adaptation.

I'd like to say Thomas Haden Church (for the voice), but he just doesn't have the look.

So, yeah, the most obvious pick is Hugh Jackman.

It'll only look stupid if they make it look stupid. Final Fantasy: Spirits Within may not be a great movie as far as plot, but nobody can deny that it's realistic characters and setting looks great. There are even more recent CGI movies and cut scenes from games that look amazing with realistic characters.

You've been brain washed by Pixar and Disney to believe that anything but furry talking animals would look stupid as CGI because that's what you're used to seeing. And sadly, so does most of America.

But a live action MGS would work too.

Jim Varney! He's had all the training. He's been to camp. He's been to jail. He has even been scared stupid!

...Then again maybe not. It would only cause legions of MGS fanboys to debate endlessly as to who this "Vern" really is.

yeah, FF:SW is great as a CG demostrattion of realistic characters and setting, but a demostration of how CG can't trasnlate the chracters emotions as well an actor can do.

Half of the characters of FF:SW lacked on this and the only one who was greatly animated and with awesome facial expressions, was the professor.

And for snake actor:

I also love the idea of Kurt Russel as old Big Boss. He is 57, so he could reasonably play the father of a 20-something young snake.

It pains me to say this, but Michael Biehn probably wouldn't work for Snake or Big Boss. Old Biehn just hasn't aged right to match the look of old Snake/old Big Boss. He would be the perfect choice for Ocelot though. Tombstone anyone? He would be perfect.

People think CGI and they see an over acting of facial animations as the way they should be. That movie about the kids on the train at Xmas with Tom Hanks (can't remember the name) got talked down in reviews because "the characters didn't show enough facial expression". When in reality they showed as much expression as the real kids who mo-capped them. Real life actors don't make wacky faces, in serious roles or exadurate how sad or angry they are. Apart from the ear to ear grin, most expressions are subtle in movies and in real life. We're a long way since 2001 as far as CGI animation quality, but like I said, it's not acceptable for serious/grown up movies in the theatre. Not in America anyways.
